What we collect, why we need it, and what we will never do with it.

Last updated 3 September 2026

What we collect

  • Your phone number. To create and recover your account, and to send verification codes. It is never shown to another member.
  • Your email address. For notifications, receipts and password recovery. Verified with a code.
  • Your profile. First name, date of birth, gender, who you are looking for, city, and what you are here for.
  • Six photographs. Two of them are held back from your public profile by default.
  • An identity document and a selfie. Used once, by a reviewer, to confirm you are who you say you are.
  • An approximate location. A single coordinate you set from the app, used to show distance. Never shown more precisely than a rounded kilometre.
  • Payment records. The amount, the currency and the provider’s reference. We never see or store your card.

What we do with it

We use it to verify you, to show you to members you might want to meet, and to run the conversations and calls you start. That is the whole list.

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising against your profile, we do not share your details with data brokers, and we do not use your photographs to train anything.

Who can see what

  • Other members see your first name, age, city, occupation, prompts and your four public photographs.
  • Members you connect with additionally see the two held-back frames.
  • Reviewers see everything above plus your ID document, during your review only.
  • The public web sees nothing unless you have specifically agreed to appear on spousora.com. The default is no.

Your phone number and your ID are never shown to another member.

Processors we use

  • Twilio — delivering verification codes by SMS and WhatsApp.
  • Paystack and Stripe — taking payments. They handle card details; we never receive them.
  • Google Maps Geocoding — turning your coordinate into a city and state name.
  • LiveKit — carrying voice and video. Calls are not recorded or stored.

How long we keep it

Your profile and photographs are kept while your account is open. Identity documents are kept for as long as we are required to evidence that a verification took place, and are not used for anything else. Delete your account and we remove your profile, photographs and messages; a minimal record of the transaction history remains where law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account entirely. Email hello@spousora.com and we will act within 30 days. Nigerian members’ data is handled under the Nigeria Data Protection Act; members in the UK and EU may also exercise their rights under UK GDPR and GDPR.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords and one-time codes are stored hashed, never in plain text. Access to member data is limited to staff who need it to review applications or answer support.
